What is Speed Reading?

A range of techniques to allow you to read at an appropriate speed to the material. (For example, blitz through a report at top speed but go to sleep with a novel much more slowly)

We are constantly bombarded with more and more information - Some of it we can filter, but unless you are able to read and assimilate quickly you are bound to get swamped.

The average person reads at between 200 and 240 words per minute (wpm) - So a typical 250 page book, with about 500 words per page, would take you nearly ten and a half hours to read. We can show you how to get a good idea of what the book is about and which bits are important in ten minutes. Obviously you won't have read the whole book in that time but, it will give you enough information to make a sensible decision as to whether the book is really worth reading in depth.

If you decide that you do want to read a book from cover to cover then there are ways to speed this up too. You can expect to double your reading speed by taking a half day course, perhaps with a slight drop in comprehension.

After all, you've been reading in the same way for most of your life - How can you expect to change instantly? However, if you follow up the course with regular practice 1000 - 2000 wpm with good comprehension is certainly attainable. This would mean that you could read your 250 page book in an hour!
